Prayer Letter — September / October 2024
Dear Pastor and Church,
I just wanted to take a moment to talk about our latest trip to Portugal. In the last couple months some visa laws have been changing. They have cut down on the people coming into the country, due to this there is no longer a missionary visa available to us. As we prayed about what the Lord would want us to do, I reached out to Bro DaCunha. As we talked he informed me they were going to follow the Lord's leading to work at their home church back in the states. He asked me to pray about taking over the work that his family started 6 years ago. As we prayed and sought counsel, the Lord made very clear that He wanted us to help carry the church through until the Lord calls a national Pastor to be trained and eventually take over.
The church currently has 16 members and have seen 7 baptized in the last couple weeks. They are seeing people reached and discipled. This also opens many doors for us and answers prayer. It will allow us to get a work visa from the church in Portugal that will allow us to get into the country. We can help the church as they continue to grow in their understanding of the Lord. They currently do not have any members called into ministry yet, but we do believe that can change soon. There are three men and a lady in the Bible institute and are growing their understanding in the Word of God.
The DaCunha family will be coming off the field this coming October. They have a deacon in the church who will be preaching until we can get there. The church really needs prayer during the gap of no missionary present. We could use lots of prayer to finish deputation quickly so the gap will not be too long for the church. We are excited to see what God is going to do. They are a very sweet church family. While we were there, we felt at home with them, and was excited about the opportunities this allows us to have to reach into the community in a greater capacity.
God Bless!
